Our little Sid is turning 6 and I made these strawberry gingham cookies inspired by her favorite water bottle (see the inspiration below!).

Here is the water bottle that inspired the strawberry gingham cookie design. We saw this water bottle at Marshalls and Sidney just HAD to have it! And of course I HAD to turn the design into a cookie šŸ˜…

To make the gingham design I piped 3 colors of royal icing, but you can also do this design by painting it instead of piping it. Painting the design gives a neater result, but you have to be very precise with your paint brush. I find it easier to pipe the icing and shape it with the scribe tool.

  • Chilled sheet of cookie dough (I used my chocolate cut-out cookie recipe)
  • Disco Numbers 2 Cookie Cutters from Cakes By Ximena
  • Small bow cookie cutter
  • 3ā€ round cookie cutter
  • Ruler template
  • Royal icing
  • Rose pink and red food coloring (I used Chefmaster brand)
  • Edible ink markerĀ 
  • 5 12ā€ decorating bagsĀ 
  • Scribe tool
  • Wilton decorating tips 1 and 3
  • Couplers & Bag ties (I used Wilton brand)
  • Two-in-one tool (optional – I used Genie’s Thingamagenie)
  • Decorator brushes (I used Sweet Sticks brand)
  • Edible paint in red, pink, and white (I used Sweet Sticks brand)
  • Vodka, grain alcohol, extract, or paint powder activatorĀ 
  • Paint palette or small dishes
