I added roses to some of the decorated cookies using the wet-on-wet technique and edible paint from Sweet Sticks and I kept other cookies plain to match the plates that inspired the design.

The ruffles are piped with stiff consistency royal icing and a Wilton decorating tip 101, which is also used to pipe royal icing roses. A tip 101 is a petal tip that has a wide end and a narrow end.

In addition to using edible paint to make the roses, I also used it to give the edge of the ruffles a little bit of color. This is Sweet Sticks edible paint in Deep Pink.
